I love my friends at Zion, but when I worshiped at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, and was able to bow down to the Sacrament, to kneel, and to cross myself, and to recite the Creed, my heart leapt within my breast. I think that I am one of nature's Episcopalians! However, I will continue to attend both St. Peter's and St. Patrick's Episcopal Churches, while also attending Zion UCC for several months... and I intend to meet with a spiritual director once per semester. This will be a difficult process of discernment.

I also turned in an application at the new Kohl's in Delaware... I hope I get a new part time job, but God's will be done.

Edit: On further reflection, what I really need to do is go to an Episcopal church for a month or two, so starting on September 14th I will attend St. Peter's Episcopal and compare my experience there to my experience at Zion UCC.

You've probably thought of this

There's your personal faith and nurturing it, and there's the appropriate channel for your ministry. They're connected, but they aren't the same thing....

Actually, I had not thought of that!

You could always get "involved" in the 'Independent Sacramental Movement' for your own spirituality. Then you could celebrate Mass in private to nurture yourself, and attend a UCC church for community.

That is a thought, but being a sacramental priest in private and Protestant minister in public is a kind of closeting that does not appeal. No, if I stay in the UCC I will either find a somber beauty in Geneva gowns, or celebrate Holy Communion in Catholic vestments in the churches of the Pilgrims.

But this is a matter for months of thought and prayer, and a deeper experience of the Episcopal church, so that I can get acquainted with its flaws as well as its strengths.

I caution you to be too connected to externals. It's not the vestments or gowns or even the aroma of incense that should attract you. Being caught up in externals can be detrimental.

In my ideal world Sunday worship would be a combination of Hindu Puja and the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, followed by drinks and socialization at a local pub (preferably a GLBT friendly place). But my ideal world only exists in my little world that includes just me :)
