Some Further Thoughts
1. My theology is thoroughly Protestant- I cherish the freedom to build my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and see my role as a pastor as helping others to do the same.
2. Corperate means of grace, such as the Sacrement of Holy Communion, play a larger role in my theology then they do in most protestant thelologies.
3. I would like to use 'testimonies of faith' in worship ... this is not IMHO an un-UCC thing to do... even if it would annoy the former Bapitst contingent at our church!
4. The community of care at my church has been a great help to me... in gratitude I cannot but stay in the UCC.
5. At the same time, Episcopalian services do speak to me in a way that ordinary Protestant services do not.

They each have their purposes and revelations. Then, when they share with each other, that can only be good.

I like testimonies, too, and wish for more.

You might consider attending Episcopalian services for your own personal refreshment-- happily, they're relatively likely to be held at "odd times" when you're free to enjoy them.

By "Testimonies of faith" I meant creeds... from the UCC's language of "testimonies, not tests"!

I dislike lay preachings, if that is what is meant by 'testimonies'.

dislike may be too strong a word. I think lay people who want to share their personal faith experiences with the church should be allowed to do so, but only after approaching the pastor and having their testimony vetted for orthodoxy and likelyhood of offensiveness. I once had to stop a liturgist because after he read an OT reading he added his premeliennialist interpretation onto it! That experience soured me on any extemporaneous lay participation in worship.
